Diablo 3

Level 70 and completed Campaign with a female magician. It was the default when I tried the demo. Then the purchased game picked up on the demo and I ran with it to the end !

Alien: Covenant

Guidance for designers in the aliens universe.

If you are going to make a series of androids, don’t make them all look the same. People may not be able to tell the difference between the working and defective ones.

When storing 2,000 bodies, put them on a horizontal position so they don’t have anywhere to fall.

When designing a spacecraft to transport 2,000 people to a new world, build more than one personnel dropship.

Before investigating a planet closer to earth than the one you are going to, check your database of planets and ask why they skipped this one.

Before you land on an alien planet, be sure to scan it thoroughly, especially with thermal imaging cameras. If there is lots of vegetation, but no animals, maybe stay away.

If it is dangerous to get closer to a planet than 80km, having two crew members agree does not make it any safer.

When going to an Alien vs Human fight, take more than a knife.

Cryochambers should have an emergency button on the inside, so you can get out.

If something looks dangerous, prod it with a stick. Don’t put your face in it.

Do not use Tesla “Armor Glass” on spacecraft, a sharp object may break it.

You should be able to spot a C shaped alien craft from the air, don’t land 6km from it. Try the flat land next to the craft.

Tamed

Untamed is an American drama murder mystery television series for Netflix set in Yosemite National Park starring Eric Bana and
Sam Neill.

It starts with a shocking event. A woman falls off a cliff, almost killing two climbers below. It’s tense and dramatic. Unfortunately this will not be replicated throughout the six part series.

Sam Neill & Eric Bana are top rated talent for the story. But after the initial start, things slow down. There is a lack of pacing for what proports to be a thriller. Scenes just too long, slowly events unfold to uncover who the woman is.

Then in the final episode everything unravels as a major character just does a massive infodump, undermining everything before. Probably just to wrap things up. So don’t bother.

Directory Opus 13

Considering how long this has been going, it’s surprising I had not heard of this before. The intention is to replace and improve on the Windows explorer. And it does this in spades.
It’s configurability is up there with the DAW Reaper. In it’s basic mode, it presents two panes, where files can be moved from one folder to another.
As a long time user of Total Commander, the question is… is it better.
The easy answer is yes, while Total Commander retains it’s 1990’s design aesthetic, Directory Opus is very much a modern program.
And it does the common job I expect it to  – file renaming. It does this to a programming level of detail.
It also boasts a lot of extra features:
Advanced searches
Creating Archives of files
Duplicate finder
Empty folder remover
MP3 tagging
Image viewing, resizing, rotation.
However in the end I’m not buying it as the advanced features it has, I already have in existing free and paid software.
Advanced searches [jRiver, DOS, Total Commander]
Creating Archives of files [abeMeda]
Duplicate finder [Duplicate Cleaner Pro]
Empty folder remover [Duplicate Cleaner Pro]
MP3 tagging [mp3tag & jRiver]
Image viewing, resizing, rotation. [FastStone Image Viewer]

3 Seconds

When you get a collection of 200gig+ of music stored on your PC
and phone, and still want more space becomes a problem.

Here is my solution…

Create a MP3 file in Audacity by generating three seconds of noise.
Save this as a 64kbps MP3. It should be about 24KB. If it’s too short, the MP3 player will not recognize it and if too long, just a waste of space.

Now get the cover artwork for the album.
Reduce it to 500×500 pixels and save at 80% compression.

Open the file in MP3 Tag and fill in the metadata: Artist, Album etc.
Duplicate the Album title in the Track title.
With a cover this should create a file around 100KB.

That’s 10 to the megabyte, 10,000 Album references to the Gigabyte.

In my MP3 Player, PlayerPro for Android these MP3s integrate into
all the other music albums. Instead of playing the MP3, select the search
function. The application takes the metadata – Artist + Album and returns links to
– Any Wikipedia entries
– Videos in YouTube
– and the location of the Bandcamp or Spotify streaming site.

Brunette Doomsday

The Doomsday Brunette
Nuclear Bombshell #2
By John Zakour, Lawrence Ganem

The sequel to The Plutonium Blonde.

It’s the same stuff as the previous one. Witty dialogue, danger, last second saves and destruction. Unfortunately nothing new. And with all in invulnerability going around, nobody really suffers and it looses aby sense in tension.
